A world models allows to perform "inference" and planning, by searching for a sequence of words that optimizes an objective function. This inference process may require a variable number of steps.
Optimizing an objective at inference time provides a much better way of controlling the behavior of the system than relying on the statistics of the training set and magical incantations in the form of prompt engineering.
In short, current LLMs are like Kahneman's System 1. My proposal is like System 2."
